Vino 100 Wine Tasting Benefits Valley Families

Vino 100

Vino 100 is inviting the public to a fundraiser-wine tasting to benefit the Phoenix Children’s Project on Saturday April 10, from 6:30-8:30pm in Cave Creek. Phoenix Children’s Project is a grassroots, all-volunteer organization that assists children living in poverty with food, clothes and special-occasion/holiday gifts.
Vino 100 co-owner Kim Cramton has been actively involved in the Phoenix Children’s Project’s monthly food box program since 2008. Each month she grocery shops for a particular family, comprised of a single mom with four children, ages three to 14.
“It allows the family some stability, knowing that at least once a month, they’ll have certain grocery items in the house,” she says.
Over time, the families and volunteers build bonds of friendship and trust, expanding their relationships to include kids’ birthdays, family holiday celebrations and even attending outings, like the Arizona State Fair, together.
“The other reason I like this program is that there’s no overhead,” explains Cramton. “It’s just a grassroots group of volunteers helping about 550 kids and occasional family needs. All of the proceeds raised at this wine tasting and other events go directly to the children in need.”
The evening will include a wine tasting of four different varieties – two whites and two reds. Volunteers and board members from the Phoenix Children’s Project will be available to answer questions about the organization and to offer opportunities to become involved.
Event pre-registrations are offered at a discount both online at or by check or money order payable to Phoenix Children’s Project and mailed to: Phoenix Children’s Project, c/o Sharon Cripe, 4809 West Christine Circle, Glendale, Arizona 85308. Pre-purchased tickets are $15 per person and $25 per couple. At the door, tickets are $20 per person and $35 per couple.

CAREFREE & CAVE CREEK

If You’ve Never Bought art

You May Be A Minimalist

Since its inception, the Cave Creek Gallery Association has been dedicated to supporting and encouraging art in the Desert Foothills. The galleries represent local and nationally and internationally known art and artists. Located in historic downtown Cave Creek, the core of the Association is a coalition of the creativity, energy, leadership and passion combined in four galleries – D. Lyon Art Gallery, Galeria Bellas Artes, Level 9 Gallery and Steven DeWitt Perrin Gallery – four women and one man.
“Art is a part of all of us,” says Lee Perrin, art director at Steven DeWitt Perrin Gallery. “It is inherent, and we are all creative beings whether we know it or not. We are born responding to shapes, textures, and sounds and the simplest activities of our everyday lives demonstrate our creative tendencies. We are trying to remove the separation between art as a ‘misunderstood status symbol’ and ‘art as a part of all of us.’”
When you visit an art gallery, and if an artist is present, talk to the artist – see if he/she can open up your inner soul and relate to you (be a part of you) in both conversation and artwork. It takes courage for an artist to exploit his innermost self. There are too few artists who actually make their living creating and selling their art. Most use their talent to express themselves. To have one of his expressive creations hanging in someone’s home or office is the greatest compliment any artist could be given. Consider this: one of the greatest gifts to a parent is a hand-made gift from his child.
Often times, the price of an artist’s creation is relative to his/her emotions involved when making the piece. When an artist can’t paint, can’t play his instrument, can’t shape things, he has reached a fork in his road of life, and until he makes the turn in this road, his creativity often times comes to a halt! An artist creates for himself first, not the public – what he sees through his eyes, what he feels with his emotions, what he thinks with his mind, what he hears with his ears. An artist’s talent is nurtured by life experiences. A birth certificate shows we were born. A death certificate shows we died. Art shows we lived! When you purchase an artist’s work, you are buying a piece of the artist and the art becomes a part of you.
Art is common to every culture. Artists speak every language in the world. Art is relevant. Art is memorable. Through your support, you can help change the face of art from the erroneous view point of a status symbol to the more accurate connection that art is for all of us…to live with in our homes and in our minds.
